Yes. The cameras stream 24 hours a day. Like all internet video, the picture runs a little behind real time, usually by less than a minute.
At Sloppy Joe’s Bar, 201 Duval Street, on the corner of Duval and Greene streets in Old Town Key West. Cam 1 is mounted under the bar’s awning and looks out at the street. Cam 2 looks back at the front of the bar.
Stand on the sidewalk outside Sloppy Joe’s at the corner of Duval and Greene, where Cam 1 can see you. Ask the person at home to open Cam 1, then stay put and keep waving for a full minute, because the picture reaches them with a short delay. Wear something bright. If they miss it, they can find you afterward in the Cam Archive.
Yes. The Cam Archive keeps a snapshot from every minute of the past 24 hours. Pick the hour and minute and press View. After 24 hours the image is replaced.
The camera occasionally goes down for maintenance, a network problem or bad weather. Wait a minute and refresh the page. If one camera is down, try the other.
Sponsors sometimes run a short clip before the stream starts. The live picture follows it automatically.
No. Live Duval Street is free to watch and is supported by advertising and sponsors.
Yes. The cam pages link to partner cameras elsewhere on the island, including the Southernmost Point.
Just over 1.25 miles. It runs from the Gulf of Mexico at its north end to the Atlantic Ocean at its south end, and walking it without stopping takes about 30 minutes. Our Duval Street guide covers it block by block.
In Old Town Key West, Florida, at the far end of the Florida Keys. It runs north to south through the middle of the historic district.
William Pope Duval, the first territorial governor of Florida. The street was laid out and named in 1829. There is more in our history of Duval Street.
Nobody keeps an official count, and the number changes every year as places open and close. The bars are thickest on Lower Duval, the stretch from the Gulf to Petronia Street, with more around the corners on Greene, Front and Caroline streets.
It is the local name for bar-hopping your way down Duval Street. There is no set route.
Many Key West bars are licensed to serve until 4 a.m.
Not legally. Despite the street’s reputation, open containers of alcohol are not allowed on public streets and sidewalks in Key West. Finish your drink before you leave the bar.
A few minutes on foot. Cruise passengers come ashore within a few blocks of the north end of the street.
Key West International Airport is about three miles from Lower Duval, roughly 10 to 15 minutes by taxi.
A little over a mile. Walk south along Duval almost to the end, then one block west to the corner of Whitehead and South streets.
A few minutes’ walk. Head toward the Gulf end of Duval and turn west.
